Aggrieved residents of Okene in Kogi state are set to stage a peaceful protest any moment from now at Okene office of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) over alleged epileptic power supply and outrageous bills.
He argued that AEDC has been defrauding Okene residents for long with outrageous bills that is not commensurate with the epileptic power supply.
Adabara explained that the aggrieved residents will march through major streets in the Okene, narrating their ordeals and will demand for immediate response.
“We all agree that we do enjoy more light during the time of Mr. Ajikobi at AEDC than we are enjoying with our own son in charge.
“In a month, we cannot boast of 14 hour electricity supply in this area, yet they keep distributing inflated bills to residents. It is very annoying.
“Mr. Jere, the AEDC Kogi Regional Manager, and the manager AEDC Okene office, Mr. John Opotu has not lived up to expectations of Ebiras in his one year old leadership.
“The manager refused to provide us prepaid meter as we requested for, prepaid electricity is a great solution for many residents. Increasingly, residents are getting tired of paying excess electricity bills.
By using prepayment, customers pay for their electricity upfront, before they use it. The benefit of this is that we don’t have any surprise bills at the end of the month and we can budget for our electricity consumption accordingly.
Adabara called on Kogi state government, the local government Administrators, traditional chiefs, security agencies to call the Kogi Regional Manager AEDC, Lokoja to order because it was his alleged instructions Mr. John Opotu is working on.
