The Kogi State Government has hinted that all its radio stations would be given a major boost to enhance better productivity in the dissemination of information.
The State Commissioner for information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo made this known while on a working visit to Radio Kogi Ocheja Booster Station.
Hon. Fanwo reemphasized the fact that information sector is a crucial tool for the growth and survival of good Governance which the present Government under the leadership of Gov. Yahaya Bello is determine to utilize for her citizens.
The Hon. Commissioner expressed the zeal of the government in ensuring that Radio Station Ocheja function effectively in view of the dilapidated facilities will soon be resuscitated for better efficiency and maximum output to the teeming population in the Eastern part of the state.
Hon. Fanwo expressed his satisfaction to the staff for their high level of commitment to their duties and assured them of government motivation and commitment to their welfare.
On their challenges, the commissioner promised to table their request before the state government for appropriate action and urged them to remain patriotic and dedicated.
The station mananger, Mrs Anyaga Lucy Onuh, thanked the commissioner for the visit and urged him to look into the plight of the staff as well as the challenges facing the radio station and appeal for prompt action.
While at the palace of His Royal Father, Omachi Atta Onu Ocheja, Chief Yahaya Musa, the commissioner thanked the community and the Royal Father for their mobilization in terms of security and maintenance of the facilities of Radio Ocheja.
He commended the Royal Father for his partnership with the state government and for securing the properties of the government at his domain.
Fanwo urged the youths to sustain their Spirit of patriotism and urged them to continue their culture of protecting the facilities at Ocheja Radio, stressing that government is a collective responsibilities.
In his response, the Royal Father, Chief Yahaya Musa, thanked the Commissioner and his team for the unique visit and pledged his absolute support towards the security and maintenance of the facilities at Ocheja Radio Station, which he noted is the only source of information dissemination to the Igala Kingdom which must be secured and protected.
At the Kogi State University, the Hon. Commissioner called on the University Authority to ensure that cultism is completely eradicated, noting that the brand Kogi has no space for any form of cultism or criminalities in the tertiary institutions.
He urged the University Authority to key into the anti cultism campaign programs of the Ministry through the state media with the view of creating awareness and sensitization to the students.
He lauded the efforts of the University in their steps to wipe out cultism and urged them to sustain the zeal.
In his response, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tai Oluwagbemi, thanked the Governor through the Ministry for their support and disclosed the various measures put in place against cultism, promised that it would soon be a thing of the past.
